The Elementary Education Office assists with the management of the eleven (11) elementary schools located in the communities of Gautier and Pascagoula, which comprise the Pascagoula School District. The K-5 elementary schools serve diverse student populations with district curriculum and programs designed to meet the needs of all students. PSD elementary schools follow K-5 teacher-designed student-centered curriculum, reflecting state and national content standards to provide stimulating learning environments. Specialized programs in reading, special education, media centers, music and physical education, curriculum computer labs and classroom computers, and pre-school age programs at selected schools, offer students a balanced curriculum. School counselors, and district health nurses provide students support and care. A wide variety of learning experiences and activities designed around students' ability and performance level taught by highly trained and motivated teaching staffs provide challenging learning opportunities.
Since 1971, The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools have regionally accredited PSD elementary schools. Currently schools are engaged in school improvement planning using the National Study of School Evaluation school improvement model focusing on student learning and performance. Parent and community involvement in school improvement strengthens and improves student learning.
To explore a specific school near your home you may click on the 'Select a school ...' drop down box in the upper left of this browser window. Students are assigned to "neighborhood" schools and these school zones do change based on changes in student population. We welcome you to our communities and hope you will contact the Elementary Education Department if you need assistance.
