As Communications Director, I serve as the first point of contact for the school district. My job entails spreading the message about the district's tremendous successes and accomplishments every year through local newspapers, television and radio stations, newsletters every quarter and the district's web page. To contact the Communications Department, call 228-938-6503 or email me at: email@example.com
Through photos, I capture a wide variety of innovative academic activities, athletic and artistic successes for the photo gallery on the district's web page keeping the public abreast of all the district has to offer. Our school board recognizes these successes at its regular monthly school board meetings.
I also serve as the internal facilitator for the district's five-year strategic plan which was implemented during the 2007-08 school year. I have been involved in setting up the new Excel by 5/Early Beginnings Resource Center which is open to parents of children, ages birth to 5 years of age. I am the district-wide coordinator for SOAR (Students' Outstanding Achievement Rally) every spring, district-wide coordinator for United Way and the American Heart Association Heart Walk. I worked closely on the district's drop-out prevention plan, coordinate school uniforms for needy students and work closely with Backpack Buddies in identifying families in need of assistance.
I serve on a number of community boards in keeping the school district networking with local businesses and civic/service organizations. These include United Way Board of Directors, C.A.N.D.Y. (Citizens Against Needless Death in Youth); Board of Directors, PRAM (Public Relations Association of Missississippi) Jackson County Chapter; member of Pascagoula Kiwanis Club, Leadership Jackson County, CHAMPS, and member of the Education Issue Manager Group of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Statewide, I am first vice president for Mississippi Association of Partners in Education.
The district realizes the importance of community partners and encourages local business and industries as well as civic organizations to take an active role in the district. In turn, the district is also involved in a number of service programs in teaching its students the importance of giving back to their community and the importance of helping others.
We are extremely proud of all of our district employees and our students.
